Rick’s team on the road: a test ride into French-German history
Working at Rick’s Motorcycles at the “House of Custom” has two big advantages:
you are constantly seeing the latest custom bike creations from Rick’s, and after work it’s not far to France.
The Alsace is also today a region for gourmets and can be reached from the “House of Custom” faster than the scenic Black Forest high altitude road. Besides, here are many more photogenic corners and areas, which is reason enough to do a round trip on a few newly built Rick’s bikes through the lonely French countryside and past the former battlefields of the German-French war of 1870/71.
Is there something nicer than sitting in a French street café watching life go by? The first warm sunrays of spring reflect in the chrome of the Harleys while the ladies’ skirts get shorter…if you live on or near the French border you will know and appreciate that on the other side of the border life is a bit more relaxed than in busy Germany. Unless the Huns invade by the dozen on their custom bikes…
“What? How many motorcycles do we have to photograph again? How quickly do you put such a bike together!” is a typical telephone conversation between editorial staff at motorcycle magazines and Rick’s Motorcycles in Baden-Baden. Now in its 5th year, the “House of Custom” is a well oiled machine which produces custom bikes almost by the hour. This year Patrick Knörzer, aka “Rick”, celebrates his 15th company anniversary and can look back on an impressive amount of custom bike creations.
