Golden Nugget
Golden Nugget – Rick’s Power-Bagger
The „Gold Standard“ by Rick’s Motorcycles: A very glamorous FLTRX Road Glide with Rick’s Clubstyle Parts!
The fact that Baden-Baden has a casino in addition to its world-famous spa district has been a well-known fact for more than 200 years. Although the Baden-Baden gambling establishment does not have a name as attractive as the famous gambling halls in Las Vegas or Reno/Nevada (and less Neon signs!), it does have a authentic history: with real-world kings and emperors. However, the spa town on the western edge of the Blackwood Forest had to wait until 2011 for its first Authorized Harley-Davidson dealership. By then, Rick’s Motorcycles was already an established and booming customizing business on Flugstrasse 1, once the former Zeppelin landing site of Baden-Baden. Should the Baden-Baden Casino ever come up with the idea of setting up a “special prize” similar to what the famous US Casinos often stage for promotion: Rick’s Motorcycles has already created the the perfect Custom-Harley for such a deal!
“Golden Nugget” is far more than just a spectacular custombike dream. Crafted with imagination, paint and steel – “performance” is not just a phrase: it is – despite the Harley-Davidson Road Glide’s massive appearance – a genuine promise. Quite similarly constructed FLTRX racing versions deliver spectacular racing action on the US race tracks in the popular “King of the Baggers” racing series. Meanwhile, the “Performance Bagger Style“, derived from the Racing Series, also has become a popular customizing trend in Europe – using the sophisticated and „Made in Germany“ quality Rick’s Motorcycles “Clubstyle” program, extreme performance baggers can be created. Even in stock configuration, the 1.923 cc Milwaukee Eight engine delivers solid 103 hp. Even more impressive is the torque of 168 Nm, which can already be activated at 3,500 rpm and by which the heavy tourer can be ridden in very sportive style on winding roads.
To bring this performance safely onto the tarmac, “Golden Nugget” has been upgraded with numerous Rick’s parts that were developed to guarantee ultimate riding stability. For „Road Glide“ models of HD model years 2014-2023 (which includes „Rushmore“ Twin Cams as well as the M8 Tourers, Rick’s has developed its own high-end Clubstyle Riser Kit. Super-stable CNC-machined Clubstyle risers featuring integrated cable ducts are mounted on the “Performance 3” triple-tree with stylish covers. The stock ignition- and steering-lock is neatly integrated into this triple-tree, while the digital displays and indicator lights are integrated into the solid handlebar clamp, offering important vehicle and engine data directly into the rider’s field of vision. The the stock display screen inside the frame-mounted Road Glide fairing is thus available for other information.
Naturally, Rick’s „Good Guys“ grips and adjustable hand levers are fitted to the Rick’s Clubstyle “Moto Bar”: Advanced ergonomical grip radius and individually adjustable lever forces are essential features of the responsive and stable steering geometry of this Rick’s Motorcycles handlebar-riser-triple-tree combination.
The stock wheels were exchanged for a complete set of Rick’s Forged Wheels in “Seven Sins” Design – 5.5 x 18” at the rear, 3.5 x 21” in front. The bigger 21-Inch diameter in front (stock front wheel size is 19”) allows the Race-Tourer higher ground clearance and a better angling into sharp turns. Which comes handy not only on the twisting roads of Blackwood Forest or Vosges Mountains in nearby Alsace.
At the front end, a solid Rick’s 21-inch steel fender provides additional stability and a clean look: with extremely close fit to the Metzeler 130/60-21 inch tire. Speaking of looks: Installed in the “Golden Nugget” fork is the „black“ version of the 49 mm fork tubes. Soon afterwards – and likely inspired by this cool custom – fork tubes now can also shine in gold-finish! Rick’s makes it possible! The „colored“ tubes are now available in the Rick’s Motorcycles shop in various sizes for most Harley-Davidson model lines and custom bike projects.
For optimized braking performance, Rick’s “Wave” discs have been further improved: “Golden Nugget” is equipped with 13-inch full floating discs on new 7-spoke inner stars that also match the “Seven Sins” forged design wheels perfectly. The Rick’s „Wave“ rotors are less aggressively styled than comparable competitors and therefore offer more friction surface. Drilled holes instead of slotted holes underline this – and reduce the noise when braking. In the installed version, the “Wave” shape is only indicated by small cutout radius, which is machined opposite the individual spoke disc floater. The stock Brembo calipers are retained but, due to the larger brake disc diameter, mounted on precisely manufactured Rick’s radial adapters, which blend harmoniously into the look.
A new Rick’s “Touring Wave” brake rotor is used on the rear brake: 7 mm thick, this version offers not just great braking performance but also a significantly longer service life! This means that the heavy “Road Glide” is also perfectly equipped for heavy-duty operation and fast-paced riding! Again: “Rick’s Gold Standard”. The development was inspired by many years of experience with Rick’s Design Brake Rotors and aftermarket brake discs from other manufacturers, resulting in a combination of the best materials and design. The declared goal: to optimize braking performance while increasing service life. Mission accomplished!
The Rick’s parts in this project further include license plate brackets with installed Kellermann’s 3-in-1 function “Atto” and the matching adapter, as well as the Rick’s “porthole” window cover on the primary drive.
