“Grey Low Rider” – Rick’s Low Rider ST FXLRST hop-up! Milwaukee’s Sport-Softail, upgraded with Rick’s Clubstyle parts!

Welcome to “Clubstyle”: Rick’s Motorcycles upgrades a stock version of Harley-Davidson’s FXLRST Low Rider ST using Rick’s 2024 “Clubstyle” parts.

In model year 2024, the Low Rider ST, featuring the distinctive frame-mounted fairing, remains a top seller in the Harley program. Whether with the cool stock fairing or “customized” using Rick’s FXRT/FXRP retro fairing: this Softail cannot hide its authentic “Clubstyle” DNA. With a discreet and specifically targeted “Clubstyle” upgrade from the Rick’s Motorcycles parts program, this can be intensified – and with the combination of Rick’s “Good Guys II” air filter and Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde exhaust system, there is also a solid sound to match the look!

With the introduction of the Low Rider ST in January 2022, Harley-Davidson reacted quickly and very targeted to the market developments in the “Clubstyle” scene and the growing popularity of the “King of the Baggers” racing series in the USA. Power Baggers and Clubstyle conversions are trendy – and Rick’s Motorcycle is adding state-of-the-art performance parts to the market.

Even in stock set-up, the Low Rider ST is a real hot rod on two wheels: powered by a 117 cubic inch M8, the 1,923 cc engine delivers a whopping 106 hp to the rear wheel. At 5020 rpm! The maximum torque of 168 Nm is already available at 3,500 rpm – providing plenty of torque and driving pleasure. Especially as the suspension with 43 mm upside-down forks and the adjustable single damper at the rear is already sporty. And thus was left untouched by the Rick’s team, with the exception of the front fender: The Rick’s steel-made front fender is shorter and tighter over the front wheel than the stock version and offers additional protection for the otherwise open fork surfaces. The baffles integrated into the design deflect dirt and moisture away from the open tubes and sealing rings, thus reducing wear and the risk of damage. The solid part also acts as additional fork stabilizer, the color of the Rick’s raw metal fender has been perfectly matched to the “Billiard Gray” Harley stock paint.

“Riding stability” is the core theme on this Clubstyle-upgrades: Rick’s Clubstyle-Riser and the outstanding machined Rick’s triple-tree offers optimized function, control plus simple and quick installation. Made from high-strength 7075 aluminum, the risers fulfill several functions at once: The stable and super-solid construction prevents these risers from any twisting, both when mounted on stock triple clamps and in combination with the Rick’s “Performance 2” bridge. To achieve this, the lower part of the handlebar clamp is designed as a “torque bar” and is clean connected to the riser halves and bolted internally. This design enables unrivaled precise and direct steering with maximum dimensional stability and stiffness of handlebar operation. With a riser height of 8.5 inches, there is no twisting and steering the 770 mm Rick’s Clubstyle Moto Bar Performance 1 handlebar is super-precise, following every impulse by the rider.
A generously dimensioned cable duct is hidden in both risers, which can accommodate the cable harness extension offered by Harley-Davidson for handlebar conversions, as well as any additional cables to be installed for the exhaust system, air suspension or other accessories to be controlled. The cables to be concealed are fixed in the channels with clamps. The version installed here is for the stock digital speedo/instrument at the upper end of the risers. Rick’s “Good Guys” grips and adjustable hand levers are perfect additions for perfected riding ergonomics.

State-of-the-Art and technical perfect, the Rick’s “Wave” brake discs are fitting many customizing styles – two 330 mm discs at the front and the 292 mm version at the rear as a replacement for the standard rotors. The development was inspired by many years of experience with Rick’s Design brake discs and aftermarket/accessory brake discs from other brands – and is a combination of the best materials and design. The declared target was to optimize braking performance while at the same time increasing service life. Floating brake discs are less susceptible to distortion under maximum load and provide better braking performance because the brake discs virtually center themselves between the brake shoes during the braking process. This is an important factor when it comes to the load on the brakes, especially on the heavy “Big Twins” from Harley-Davidson, if you ride in a more “forced Clubstyle” manner.

Rick’s Wave disks are less aggressively designed than comparable competing products – and therefore offer more friction surface. Drilled holes instead of slotted holes underline this – and reduce the noise level. The discs are mounted on 10-spoke “Steve” design inner spiders and 10 floaters each, which distributes braking forces and heat dissipation to more points than in the stock arrangements. The inner star is specially coated, the float rivets are flattened on the outside and highly tensioned. Rick’s Wave offer no wobbling or rattling, but still allow the brake discs the necessary expansion when heated by heavy braking loads. The design of the disc with a stainless steel inner core ensures long-lasting and consistently reliable operation. Matching brake caliper adapters for radial piston brake calipers such as Brembo are in the works. Rick’s Wave brake discs are available in 292, 300 and 330 mm diameters. The stock Brembo calipers are retained and re-positioned on specially developed Rick’s adapters.

“Clubstyle Crashbars” have become a somewhat “standard design feature” on many Clubstyle customs: in case of a “downfall” the bike is better protected and from slippery ground to getting “off balance” there are many reasons that a motorcycle can be dropped! This ride features Harley-Davidson’s own P&A “Flat Out Bar”, which is to be installed with a matching adapter-kit high up at the frame downtubes.

If you prefer a tougher part for more intense protection, there is also the option of Rick’s Motorcycles “Clubstyle Crash-Bar”: The components of the front crash bar are laser-cut, TIG-welded and coated with high-quality plastic. Attached at multiple installation points at the top and bottom of the frame downtubes – Rick’s Motorcycles front crash bar frame construction also serves as frame reinforcement. The end pieces are CNC-milled from aluminum as replaceable “crash pads” and can be quickly exchanged if necessary, colored versions are available too. As well as providing protection for the engine and fairing, Rick’s Crashbars can also be used as “highway pegs” by long-distance riders.

Additional Rick’s improvements can only be discovered on closer inspection, as many parts remained “stock” for the riding season: a rectangular cut-out belt guard is largely hidden from view behind the bags – and Rick’s “Premium” cover set also blends so harmoniously into the overall picture that you have to search for the individual axles and cover mounting points. What comes across as a “Close-to-Stock” is a “Gray Wolf”, hiding a lot of technical sophistication, innovation – and ultimate “Clubstyle” riding fun. The message: You can do it without too much “bling” – Rick’s Motorcycles makes it possible!
