Cannon Ball Stage 2

1. March 2020

A while ago we introduced you to Cannon Ball Stage 1, and it follows from the name that there had to be a Stage 2. Here it is, the second conversion stage, where clearly more Rick’s parts were used in order to present the W&W wheels in the right setting. Apart from the wheels, all metal parts are from Rick’s Motorcycles.

Almost all parts used are from Rick’s Motorcycles or available from the experts for fine custom bikes. Let’s start with the most important thing, the wheels. They are cast wheels and called Cannon Ball MAG12 and available from W&W in dimensions 2.5 x 19 and 3 x 16 for different models. The matching fenders are both from the parts range at Baden-Baden. Pay attention to the rear fender because this is what gives it the typical Bobber look. The swinging fender from Rick’s is made from robust steel and can be attached to the swingarm without additional welding work. Rick’s offers the fender for the small OE tire as well as for wider tires up to the 200.

If you prefer a “one-man-show” and want a solo seat, the problem is that the frame below the former seat is open, but the seat has to be mounted somehow. Rick’s also has a clever solution for this, and optionally a frame cover is available with a seat mount onto which most aftermarket seats should fit. In this special case the solo seat was handmade for Rick’s Motorcycles by Spirit Leather. Below the seat is a small tool roll in which papers and a wallet find space, which answers the second question, i.e. where the bag on the swingarm comes from. The leather artists from the Rhineland have also made a holder to carry a spare bottle, which makes sense for every long-distance rider.

Many more parts from Rick’s were simply finely sanded down for this bike in order to achieve an especially raw look like Rick’s air filter, the struts, the stainless steel belt cover as well as the clutch cover. And because this effect is so stylish, many of the OE parts were also given the same matt look, for example the whole primary box, the rocker boxes and even the brake and clutch levers. The wheels were also sanded to match the look of the whole bike. In order to keep the view of the smart rear wheel unobstructed, the disc brake was located onto the other side.

All in all the boys from Rick’s delivered another pretty unique Bobber, and this will not have been the last Bobber conversion from Baden-Baden. As can be seen, the possibilities of using available homemade custom parts have not yet been exhausted.
